I know the tractor shotgun is a popular pick for melee builds but I generally don’t like the way shotguns feel in this game (but I also don’t know if it suffers from limited ammo like legendary weapons do). It seems like a better option on paper but the consistency of seismic is appealing. I don’t know if I’m just bad at using thunderclap or if there’s something I’m missing. So it’s harder to get caught with melee on CD. However, it gives you some nice sometimes-useful mobility, and most importantly, it only goes on cooldown when it connects with a target. Seismic on the other hand has a smaller area (and probably less damage) and requires you to be sprinting so you can only use it every couple seconds at best. Thunderclap seems like the more obvious pick, has a bigger area, and is more spammy, but it’s kind of janky to use sometimes, and my biggest gripe is when I commit to using it right as an enemy dies, so I’m stuck with no melee (which can be partially mitigated with the rest of the build, but I digress). I’ve been playing around with it and using a build based on one from Mobalytics, which has felt solid, but I’m having a really difficult time just figuring out if I should use seismic strike or thunderclap. I was thrilled to grab Insurmountable Skullfort when Xur had it recently and have been having a lot of fun with it.
